A: The NZ Champs is an annual competition that consists of both online and in-person events, aiming to determine New Zealand’s CrossFit Licensed Event winner. It starts with the online Individual competition and ends with an in-person Individual and Team event.

A: Any athlete or team wishing to participate in the NZ Champs must complete the registration process in time to be eligible to compete in the NZ Champs season. Athletes registering must be a New Zealand citizen or hold a current NZ work visa to be eligible to place and be titled on the podium.

A: Every competing athlete must register online at the competition corner. All athletes competing at the in-person event must be registered as an athlete on the CrossFit website.

A: We recommend signing up for a division in which you are comfortable with all the movement standards.

You may also choose to challenge yourself by entering a harder division.

A: All online qualifier workouts must be performed with a judge. This does NOT need to be a CrossFit certified judge.

Athlete performances in each test are judged, validated, and ranked on the competition corner leaderboard. Scores must be submitted by the time allocated as per competition corner. Any score submission received after the deadline will not be accepted for any reason.

A: The NZ Champs consists of six divisions for individuals: Elite, Intermediate, Scaled, Masters 35-39, Masters 40-44 and Masters 45+. And three divisions for teams: Elite, Intermediate, and Scaled. The Elite division simulates the standards of the CrossFit Semi-Finals, while the Intermediate and Scaled divisions involve less repetition and weights

A: Teams may sub out an athlete that has been injured prior to the competition start. If any changes are made in a team after the competition has started, no more points will be awarded from that point, but the team may carry on in the competition.

For the Individuals, we will back fill due to injury up until September 30th at which point the starting list will be locked in.

A: Cash prizes will be awarded to the top performers, with a total prize purse to be confirmed. All cash prizes will be paid in NZ dollars and will be deposited to the winner’s bank account within 1 month of the competition’s completion date.

A: If for any reason the NZ Champs is not capable of running as planned, NZ Champs reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the competition. In the event the competition is cancelled, there is no obligation to award any prize money. If the competition is modified, the invitation process, the number of athletes eligible to compete, and the number of divisions may also be modified.

A: Appeals, scoring discrepancies, or questions about the judging or scoring of online videos will be handled through nzcfchampionship@gmail.com. Only the affected athlete may appeal a result. Coaches or unrelated parties may not appeal on behalf of the affected athlete.
